I travelled to visit RetroTechUK today, which I thoroughly recommend. The event has changed name and location a few times (I went to the NEC a long time ago) but it is run by the British Vintage Wireless Society. The event doesn't just cover radio though - there were quite a few stalls selling TV's, old telephone equipment, test equipment, and quite a lot of hi-fi as well. Even a few old video game consoles and computer parts.

I bought a Bush VHF81 valve radio, which I'm listening to at home as I type. I've had valve radios before, but I wanted something that was bit more 'modern' looking, rather than a Bakelite model. The VHF81 was launched in 1964, but to me it looks more late 1950's. Very clean and unfussy lines, a slim wooden case, and really attractive speaker cloth. I'll blog / vlog about the Bush VHF81 shortly. I plan on setting-up a low power FM transmitter to send audio to the radio from my phone.
