The story began in 1941, when the CHEMEX Coffeemaker was invented by Dr. Peter Schlumbohm PhD to brew the PERFECT cup of coffee. Since that time, the CHEMEX has spanned generations and the globe as an icon of Mid-Century design.
There are cheap imitations, but the original CHEMEX coffeemaker brewing system is the best. Few products match the blending of design and function of the CHEMEX. Its visual elegance has even earned it a place in some of the most prestigious museums worldwide.
This makes 6 cups of pour-over coffee. We've used a CHEMEX at home every day for 10+ years, so we stand by the quality and great functionality of this coffee maker.

Requires filter papers, or you can buy re-usable metal filters that we've found to work as well as paper, and they're cheaper over time.

Charles & Ray Eames 'House Bird'
One item that has stood for 50+ years in the California home of legendary industrial designers Charles and Ray Eames, is the figure of a black lacquered wooden bird. An icon of American folk art, it was one of Charles and Ray Eames' more valued possessions, appearing in numerous of the Eameses' photographs, and still sitting in their home in California.
This is a faithful reproduction of the 'House Bird', made from polished fiberglass resin and steel wire legs. Approximately 28cm high, this ornament has become an icon of the mid-century period.
